Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Rewatiraman Bhandari has issued a statement stating that the license renewal service has been disrupted.
The Koshi provincial government had recently decided to waive the fine for renewing driving licenses for the period until the service was operational after the Gen-G movement. However, the service has not been implemented as the federal government has not included the provision for fine waiver in the software.
Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Rewatiraman Bhandari issued a press release on Thursday stating that the Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport under the federal government has not yet incorporated the fine waiver provision into the software, which has led to the disruption of the driver's license renewal service in Koshi Province.
The driver's license renewal system was disrupted after the arson and vandalism that occurred at the department in Kathmandu on Bhadra 23 and 24. Since then, new or renewal service recipients have also been affected in Koshi Province.
Although the provincial government has decided to provide a fine waiver as a relief to service recipients, the service operation is not possible due to the lack of software, Minister Bhandari said. He said, 'Despite the provincial government's repeated written and verbal requests, the federal government has not provided the necessary software, due to which service recipients are still facing problems.'
Minister Bhandari has urged the federal government to immediately re-operate the software system and provide the driver's license renewal service to service recipients easily.
