Sudarshan Khadka has been appointed as the secretary of the Koshi Provincial Assembly, which has been vacant for a long time. Khadka, who has been the secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, was appointed by Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung on Wednesday on the recommendation of Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista.
According to Information Officer of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Niraj Dhakal, Khadka, who reached the office of the Provincial Chief with a letter on the recommendation of the Speaker, was appointed by the Provincial Chief Khapung in accordance with Article 195 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Earlier, the Provincial Assembly Secretariat was without a leader for 9 months after the then Secretary Gopal Prasad Parajuli was convicted in a corruption case by the Supreme Court. The court had sentenced Parajuli to 6 years in prison and fined him on the charge of illegally operating a sand quarry on the land of the Pashupati Area Development Fund. He was automatically relieved of his post with the court's verdict.
The newly appointed Secretary Khadka is a resident of Changunarayan Municipality-4, Bhaktapur. He held the post of Secretary in the Federal Parliament Secretariat from 2077 Jestha 30 to 2082 Jestha 11. He was promoted to the vacant post of Secretary after Bharatraj Gautam was appointed as the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament.
Khadka has accumulated nearly three decades of experience in the Federal Parliament. He entered the parliamentary service as a branch officer in Chaitra 2051 and was promoted to Deputy Secretary in 2059, Joint Secretary in 2067, and Secretary in 2077.
