The 141st birth anniversary of Mahaguru Phalgunanda Lingden, the 16th national figure of Nepal and the founder of the Kirat religion, has been celebrated with great pomp.
His birth anniversary was celebrated across the district, including Labrekuti in Phidim-5, the place of worship of Falgunanda, Siloti in Falgunanda-2, and Sumhatlung temple in Phidim-4. Along with this, Kirat followers celebrated their birth anniversary with various programs and worship in Mangsebung in Ilam, Jorpokhari in Panchthar, Gopetar, Miklajung, Tumwewa and Tehrathum.
On this occasion, special services, worship, cultural programs, religious rituals, sermons and sports were organized in Manghims, said Dhruv Tumbapo, President of Kirat Dharma and Sahitya Utthan Sangh Panchthar. Born on Kartik 25, 1942 BC in Chukchinamwa, Ilam, Falam Singh Lingden (Phalgunanda) had announced the Satya Dharma Muchulka on Baisakh 24, 1988 BC in Shilouti, Panchthar, by gathering the elders of 10 Limbuwan and 17 Thums in eastern Nepal and blowing the trumpet of social reform.
Accordingly, according to Tumbapo, the Kirat religion has been celebrating Kartik 25 as Falgunanda Jayanti and Baisakh 24 as Social Reform Day.
After issuing the Satya Dharma Muchulka, Falgunanda has a history of being considered a social reformer. Falgunanda has mentioned in the Satya Dharma Muchulka that the daily fights and lawsuits that occur due to alcohol consumption in homes and villages are increasing.
Born in Ilam, he made Panchthar his workplace and spread the knowledge of cultural campaign until the last moment of his life. In order to continue the principles and cultural campaign he propounded, places such as Banjho (Larumwa) in Ilam and Shilouti in Panchthar are being promoted through the Kirat Religious and Cultural and Religious Tourism Center. He passed away on Chaitra 22, 2005. The Government of Nepal declared Falgunandal a national celebrity on Mangsir 16, 2066.
