A week-long training on Chhyabrung dance has been completed in Panchthar. Forty-nine youth and teenagers from different communities participated in the training organized in the district headquarters Phidim, said Phungso Javegu, chairman of the organizer Yakthung Mun Chait Panther.
The organizing organization has stated that this training was organized to train the younger generation to preserve the Chyabrung dance based on the customs and culture of the Limbu community.
It is said that this training was conducted with the aim of transferring the knowledge and skills of the new generation from their ancestors to the younger generation. Theoretical and practical classes were conducted in the training. Rajni Hangsarumba, secretary of the organizing organization, said that various individuals and organizations provided financial and in-kind support to organize the training.
On the occasion of the training closing ceremony, the trainers and assistants of the training were honored with certificates of appreciation and cash. Speaking from the seat of the chief guest at the closing ceremony, Sagar Kerung, central president of the Limbu Filmmakers Association, pointed out the need to launch a nationwide campaign to raise awareness for the preservation of the Chyabrung dance along with the culture.
