Police have said that 10 people, including 4 from Damak and 6 from Birtamod, have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
Two youths from Chulachuli, Ilam, have been arrested for vandalizing and setting fire to the Area Police Office.
The arrested are Nakul Adhikari, 22, of Chulachuli Rural Municipality-3, and Riyaz Silwal, 19, of Chulachuli-5. Both were taken into custody from Damak for investigation on Sunday night, according to the Area Police Office, Damak.
They are accused of being involved in the vandalism and arson incident at the Area Police Office, Damak on Bhadra 24. Along with this, the District Police Office, Jhapa, has said that four people who attacked the Damak area of the IPR have been arrested.
According to the police, Sajan Luhagun, 21, of Miklajung-5, Panchthar, and currently living in Damak-5, has been taken into custody for criminal mischief on charges of involvement in vandalism, arson, and robbery at the Area Police Office, Damak just two days ago.
So far, the police have taken into custody 10 people, four from Damak and six from Birtamod, and further investigation is underway, according to the police.
Police sources said that work is underway to identify the attackers at the police office on the basis of videos and photos. Police have said that more than 50 complaints have been filed against those who vandalized and set fire to public and private property, and investigations are underway.
