A team including Phidim Municipality Mayor Mitra Prasad Kafle and Hilihang Rural Municipality Chairman Samar Bahadur Adhikari jointly inaugurated the vaccination campaign on Sunday.

The campaign, which started with the aim of vaccinating 66,000 cattle, including cows, buffaloes and goats, which are sources of milk and dairy products, was launched simultaneously in Phidim Municipality, Falelung, Hilihang, Tumbewa, Kummayak, Miklajung and Falgunanda Rural Municipality, according to the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, Panchthar.

It will also be launched in other municipalities in the presence of people's representatives, veterinarians from the Veterinary Hospital and local level technicians, informed Niraj Kumar Bhattarai, Information Officer of the Expert Center. This campaign has been launched to promote the export of dairy products by producing healthy milk.

Cows, buffaloes and goats, which are sources of milk and dairy products, are being vaccinated in this campaign. The campaign is scheduled to continue until Mangsir 23. The federal government has provided the necessary vaccines for the campaign, while the provincial government has managed the finances. Accordingly, the municipality has been provided with an amount of Rs 500,000 and the rural municipalities with Rs 125,000.

The government has earlier established Ilam district as a pocket area for dairy production. Accordingly, a vaccination campaign against Khoret has also been started in the neighboring district of Panchthar.
