Khadga Bahadur Rai, 33, of Menchhayem Rural Municipality-6, Tehrathum, who was undergoing treatment at the rehabilitation center in Manggabare, Dharan-11, died of beatings. Rai, who was injured in the beatings, died at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan last Tuesday afternoon.
The Area Police Office, Dharan, has said that nine people, including the operator, have been arrested after the police viewed the CCTV footage installed at the rehabilitation center and saw him tied up with a sheet and tied around his waist with a baton and a baton so that he could not move his arms and legs. Those arrested are Maniraj Rai, 35, of Dharan-8, the operator of the reform home, Rakesh Pradhan, 25, of Dharan, Shravan Rajdhani, 20, Nikesh Sunuwar, 40, Suren Limbu, 41, Hasta Bahadur Bishwakarma, 38, Biru Limbu, 37, Sachin Rai, 35, and Vijay Chaudhary, 27, of Sundarharaicha, Morang.
The Sunsari District Court has extended the remand of those arrested last Thursday for five days and further investigation is underway, the Dharan Area Police Office has informed.
