In view of the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections to be held on Kartik 25, movement at the border will be closed from 6 pm on Saturday to 6 pm on Tuesday.

Shrestha informed that all types of movement except for emergencies have been closed for the next 72 hours after the Indian side requested to close the border keeping in mind security. In the second phase of elections, 1,302 candidates will compete for 121 Assembly seats, including those in border districts, according to Indian media.
In the first phase of elections held on Kartik 20, 1,314 candidates entered the fray for 121 Assembly seats in 18 districts, including the capital of Bihar, Patna. Elections have been held in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Buxar and Bhojpur districts of Bihar.
Out of the total 243 seats of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, 37.5 million or 64.66 percent voters exercised their franchise in the elections held in 121 constituencies in 18 districts, according to the BBC.
