Police have arrested six youths on charges of involvement in criminal profiteering in Chainpur, Sankhuwasabha.
The police have arrested 30-year-old K. B. Pun Magar, a resident of Pyuthan and currently residing in Chainpur, 25-year-old Love Ale Magar of Chainpur Municipality-7, 31-year-old Yubaraj Pithakote Magar, 25-year-old Raju alias Yamsikh Ymali Magar, 25-year-old Pradeep Samal Magar and 29-year-old Aim Biren Ymali Magar.
According to the Area Police Office, Chainpur, on Kartik 2 at around 10 pm, the men stopped Akshay Chaudhary, a resident of Sunsari Gadhi Rural Municipality-5 and currently residing in Chainpur, on a motorcycle, beat him up and snatched his keys. After that, Chaudhary was forcibly taken to Padam Bahadur Ymali Magar's house and threatened to kill him by breaking a glass bottle and filming a video, according to the police.
According to DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, they extorted Rs 81,145 from Chaudhary by threatening to release the video on the media.
He said that the police team deployed on the basis of the complaint filed by the victim has taken all the accused into custody from various places and also recovered Rs 38,470 in cash. The police said that they are conducting further investigation into the criminal profiteering case against the arrested.
