The movement of small vehicles has resumed from the Rajduwali section of the Ilam section of the Mechi Highway, which has been blocked since Kartik 13.
The Road Division Ilam repaired the flooded road, and two-wheeler and light four-wheeler traffic has resumed from here.
This section of the Mechi Highway, which was damaged due to incessant rains on Asoj 17 and 18, was brought into operation by the Road Division Ilam after 14 days of efforts. Thirteen days later, the road was repeatedly blocked due to flooding and subsidence problems due to the rains caused by the impact of Cyclone Montha.
Pawan Bhattarai, Chief of the Road Division Ilam, has urged passengers and drivers to be careful as the risk remains even though the road has been opened for small vehicles after general repairs.
It is said that it will take time for the road to be fully operational. Vehicles are not being able to operate smoothly on the Simalgolai-Tilkeni road section, which has been proposed as an alternative to the Mechi Highway.
