Four main roads connecting Panchthar to various places have been blocked due to floods and landslides following continuous rains since Thursday.

The main road connecting Panchthar to Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari in the Tarai region has been blocked, affecting public life.

The Phidim-Phalout road section, which connects the district headquarters Phidim to the neighboring country of India, via Falelung Rural Municipality, has been blocked since Thursday night.

The Infrastructure Development Office, Panchthar, has stated that the road was blocked after the flood in the Feme River, which separates Phidim-1 and 11, eroded part of the diversion bank built there. Vehicle movement on this road has been banned after the flood.

Similarly, the District Police, Panchthar, has stated that the road is blocked due to a landslide in Rijal Bhir of Yangwarak Rural Municipality, which is located on the Mid-Hill Highway. Landslides have also occurred in various places, and the road has been washed away, preventing vehicles from operating on the Mechi Highway.

The new track opened in the Rajduwali area of this section after landslides due to heavy rains on October 17 and 18 is increasingly collapsing, while the Tilkeni Simalgolai road, which was opened as an alternative, has also been hit by landslides in places, according to the Ilam district administration. Due to the increased risk of floods and landslides, the Ilam administration has banned vehicle movement on this road since Thursday evening.

After the overnight rain damaged the road, vehicle movement has been completely banned. Similarly, the Tamor Corridor connecting Dharan in Sunsari to Panchthar and Taplejung via Mulghat in Dhankuta has also been blocked due to floods. Due to the increase in water flow in the Nawa River on the border of Panchthar and Dhankuta under the Tamor Corridor, vehicle movement has come to a standstill.
