The District Administration Office, Ilam, has issued a public notice stating that it will ban the operation of vehicles and transport vehicles from 7 pm on Thursday to 6 am on Friday. The Ilam administration has stated that various places in the Ilam section of the Mechi Highway are at risk due to landslides that occurred after heavy rains in mid-Dashain, and therefore, the movement of vehicles has been banned during the specified period.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the Disaster Risk Reduction Authority have also warned that the weather in Nepal will also be affected due to the cyclone (Montha) that developed in West Bengal, so the movement of vehicles has been stopped considering the risk of accidents on the highway due to excessive rain,' said the notice issued by Assistant Chief District Officer Bholanath Guragain.
The Rajduwali section under the Ilam section of the Mechi Highway was blocked for 14 days due to landslides that occurred after heavy rains on Asoj 18 and 19. Dozens of landslides occurred in various places in Suryodaya, Deumai and Ilam municipalities.
