Police said the body of a 26-year-old man from Jorpati Rural Municipality-2, Chhathar, Dhankuta was found on Friday night.
A young man who had gone to have a picnic on the banks of the Sabhakhola in Chainpur Municipality-11 of Sankhuwasabha died on Friday night after being swept away by the river.
The body of 26-year-old Mingma Sherpa of Jorpati Rural Municipality-2, Chhathar, Dhankuta was found at night, police said.
According to the police, the Sherpa, along with a group of 8 others, had gone to the banks of the Sabhakhola to have a picnic. During the picnic, they were swept away by the river and disappeared at around 5 pm on Friday.
As soon as the information about the incident was received at around 9:30 pm, three police teams under the command of Deputy Inspector of Police Mahendra Prasad Yadav from the temporary police post, Sabhakhola, were deployed to the scene.
His body was found stuck on a rock in the middle of the river, about 250 meters below the scene, DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali said. The police said that the postmortem of the deceased's body will be conducted at the District Hospital, Sankhuwasabha.
