Three people who lost their lives in a jeep accident in Solukhumbu on Thursday evening have been identified. The jeep carrying passengers from Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality to Mahakulung fell from Bhirkuna in Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality-6 of the district.
The accident occurred when the jeep bearing Province No. 1-031 Cha 5925 lost control after its brakes failed after reaching Bhirakuna, the police said, quoting driver Shreedhwaj Rai.
The District Police Office, Solukhumbu, has said that 6 of the 11 passengers in the vehicle, including the driver, were injured. According to the office, the deceased in the accident are 16-year-old Havi Rai, 20-year-old Shanti Rai, and 17-year-old Nirjala Rai of Mahakulung Rural Municipality Ward No. 3, Cheskam.
Similarly, the injured are 32-year-old Shreedhwaj Rai of Mahakulung 3, 16-year-old Ganga Rai of 4, 18-year-old Bastikala Rai, 16-year-old Samaya Rai and Sajna Rai of 10-year-old Umesh Rai. According to the office, the injured are being treated at the District Hospital, Phaplu, while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Mahakulung Hospital.
