Police have arrested the accused less than an hour after a man was stabbed to death with a sharp weapon in Salbisaune Tole, Khandbari Municipality-9, Sankhuwasabha on Tuesday evening.

He killed 55-year-old Karna Bahadur Kumal, the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha has said. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kumar Prasad Mainali informed that initial investigation revealed that local Bikram Kumal had attacked him with a sharp weapon in the incident.

‘An investigation is underway into the cause of the incident and the weapon used,’ DSP Mainali said, ‘The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated.’

According to the police, necessary evidence collection work is underway at the scene, and the body of the deceased has been sent to the District Hospital, Sankhuwasabha for a post-mortem.

Although locals said that panic had spread in the area after the incident, the police said that the situation was under control.
