Police have arrested nine people while they were gambling at the Khusuma Hotel in Khandbari Municipality-1, Sankhuwasabha. A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, raided the hotel on Monday morning based on a special tip-off and took them under control.

According to the police, they were arrested while playing cards and playing cards at the hotel run by Jit Bahadur Rai. The police have recovered 16 cards, 4 books of cards and Rs 172,935 in cash from the spot.

According to Police Inspector Ram Kumar Lamichhane, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, further investigation is underway to take legal action against the arrested persons as per the Gambling Act.

The police have also increased surveillance against those involved in gambling during festivals including Tihar. The police have increased surveillance after it was learned that gambling is being done in some hotels, restaurants and secret places in the Khandbari area.
