Mayor Kaluman Lama and Deputy Mayor Manikadevi Dulal of Chaudandigadhi Municipality in Udayapur have been chased away by locals.
At a special Tihar greeting exchange program organized by Chaudandigadhi Municipality-9 and 10 wards in Hadiya on Sunday, local youths chased away the mayor, deputy mayor and other public representatives, raising slogans saying, "Boycott corrupt public representatives."
As soon as the greeting exchange program began, local Gen-G youths shouted slogans at the program venue, calling the mayor and deputy mayor corrupt public representatives. The mayor and deputy mayor fled the program venue after they started smashing banners, microphones and chairs at the program venue, said Ward No. 9 Ward Chairman Prakash Raut.
Local Nawaraj Raut said that the local youths raised the slogan "Boycott corrupt public representatives," alleging that the Jana Utthan Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative in Chaudandigadhi Municipality-10 Hadiya had committed financial irregularities and that the cooperative's chairman, Ward Chairman Dharmendra Khadka, himself, was the chairman.
He said that the youths, who were upset over the irregularities of the city administration, the problems faced by the locals due to the lack of a bridge over the Triyuga River, and rampant corruption, chased away the people's representatives. After obstructing the program venue, the mayor, deputy mayor, and ward chairmen of both wards left the program venue and headed towards Beltar, the center of the municipality.
