Police have seized and destroyed firecrackers being brought into the district headquarters of Phungling for Tihar. According to the District Police Office, the firecrackers, which were brought from Jhapa on the roof of a vehicle, were seized by the Mewakha Police Post during a check.
According to police spokesperson Police Inspector Bivek Basnet, the firecrackers brought in the vehicle numbered May 1 Ja 1388 included 200 garlic crackers, 100 chocolate crackers and 20 of various types.
Firecrackers are burst in large quantities during Diwali. The police have been warning people not to use them as they pose a risk of fire and other hazards.
