The Rajduwali section of Elam under the Mechi highway has been re-flooded. Road Division Ilam said that although the work was done till Saturday evening to bring it into operation by today, it was difficult to operate the means of transport in that section as the road was flooded again in the morning.
Pawan Bhattarai, Head of Road Division, Ilam, informed that, despite removing the obstruction in that section and opening the traffic from Sunday, the risk has increased again after the road was broken. According to him, although the road division cleared dozens of landslides in Panchthar Ilam and Mykhola Jorkalash of Mechi highway, the work of Rajduwali section was not successful due to problems such as water coming out with water from nearby, cracks in the road and tearing of the road.
This section of the Mechi highway is completely closed since October 18. Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kulman Ghising, who came a week after the landslide, visited the area on Saturday.
