Excavator in Nava River to open Tamor Corridor

Work has been started to remove the obstruction of the Tamor Corridor, which was blocked due to the flood that occurred five days ago. According to the project office, excavators have been mobilized to open the road that was blocked due to landslides in places along with the floods that occurred in the Nawa river on the border of Panchthar and Dhankuta.

According to Jairam Adhikari, information officer of the project, the excavator, which started working from Chharuwa river in Dhankuta, arrived at Nava river on Thursday.

After handling the stones and sand piled up by the flood, cleaning will be started in the Panchthar section. It is said that Avarudva road will be opened after that. The Tamor Corridor is an important road connecting Panchthar Dhankuta and Taplejung in the east with the Terai via Sunsari. Passengers are suffering due to road blockage.

Under the Ilam section of the Mechi highway, the road division Ilam has started work to remove the obstruction of Rajduwali and Mykhola section since morning. As there is more damage in this section, it is not sure how long the work will be completed. However, Pawan Bhattarai, Head of Road Division, Ilam, said that the work has been progressed using all the equipment and human resources.
