It will take a few days for the Mechi highway to become fully operational

It will take four/five days for the Mechi Highway to be fully operational, according to Road Division Office Ilam. Although there is no obstruction from Taplejung to Panchthar Phidim, there is only one-way traffic from Phidim to Ranke.

According to Pawan Bhattarai, Head of Road Division Office, Ilam, there are many problems from Ranke to Ilam headquarters and Mykhola area.

"We are working to open the road from today, we are trying to open it as soon as possible, but looking at the current situation, it seems that it will take up to four/five days," said Bhattarai.

Deepak Nepal, a businessman from Panchthar, said that since Mechi Highway and Tamor Corridor are both blocked, he has suggested passengers and vehicle operators to leave Dharan from Jorsal in Panchthar via Sagrantibazar in Terathum.
