Flood in Jhapa: More than 25,000 people from 5,000 houses displaced, one person died

More than 25,000 people of Jhapa have been displaced due to the flood that occurred after the incessant rain on Saturday night. According to District Police Office, Jhapa, 25,231 people from 5,481 houses were displaced due to flood.

Those families have been displaced from Shivasatakshi, Arjundhara, Bhadrapur Municipality, Gauriganj and Jhapa Rural Municipality settlements. They have taken shelter with nearby schools and relatives.

Similarly, at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday morning, an unidentified man, aged about 65 years, was found dead in the middle part of the Kankai Mai River in Kotihome, Kankai Municipality-4. The District Police Office said that he was found in a state of collapse.

Road blocked

The road was blocked after the collapse of the under construction Asian Highway in Kalikhola in Kakdvitta. From roadside gardens, small vehicles have started moving to and from Kakadbhita .

Similarly, in Shivsatakshi in the district, the road has not yet been restored due to the diversion of the Asian highway road.
