Tourists who stopped due to bad weather are heading towards their destination. Tourists who have reached the base camp of Kanchenjunga, Khambachen, Ghunsa, Lonak, started their journey after the weather cleared up and the sun began to shine on Sunday morning, according to local tourism professionals.
"There has been some improvement in the weather from today. Some of the tourists are going to Kanchenjunga base camp and some are going to Janu Himal while the rest are in Khambachen They are enjoying the snow," said Nupu Chiring Sherpa, owner of Kanchenjunga White House in Khambachen.
About 75 people are currently visiting Kanchenjunga region, including foreigners and their helpers, and more than 200 people are visiting Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council's Ghunsa tourism assistant, Taphi Sherpa. It was raining and most of the tourists stayed in hotels yesterday. Local businessmen asked them to stop their journey for a day or two. Eight tourists, including Indians, stopped here in the capital Fungling.
