About 500 households have been displaced in different places of Jhapa due to the floods that came after the incessant rains. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, water has entered the local settlements after the river channel has increased due to continuous rain.

140 families of 56 households have been displaced due to the flood of Mai Khola in Jhapa Rural Municipality-2 Sugavthan. With the help of security personnel and locals, they were given shelter in Kuwadi Mavi, the police said.

Similarly, around 350 families have been displaced due to more flooding in Shivasatakshi Municipality-4, 5, 6 and 7. In Jhapa Bhadrapur-5, 25 houses have been flooded and they have been temporarily kept in their neighbors' houses. According to the District Police Office, only 17 households have been moved to a safe place in Shivasatakshi-7.

Similarly, 200 households have been affected due to overflowing Mechi River in Mechinagar-7 Satighatta and 15 Jamirgarhi areas. Meanwhile, the police said that the bridge of Viring river at Arjundhara was destroyed by the flood, due to which traffic was blocked.

The local administration has said that relief and rescue work has been intensified. Even now, as the water has not receded in some places, it is said that the risk remains the same.
