Ayush Palungwa alias Gyanu Wangdel, who absconded from the Central Jail office Jagannath Deval Sundhara Kathmandu, was arrested in Taplejung on the occasion of Gen-G movement and subsequent demonstration.

According to Vivek Basnet, Information Officer of District Police Office, Taplejung, Palungwa, whose house is Dokhu, Fungling Municipality-7, has been detained by the police. 

District Police Chief (DSP) Bed Prasad Gautam informed that he was arrested based on information that he was hiding in a friend's house in Phungling-6 Aluchowak. He said that he has been kept in Taplejung Prison for the time being and will be transferred later.

According to the police office, Ayush has been sentenced to 8 years and 6 months imprisonment in the rape case. He has paid for 5 years.
