50 prisoners who escaped from Jhumka Jail were arrested from Dharan

During the August 24 demonstration, 1,575 prisoners escaped from Jhumka Jail. Out of which 991 prisoners have been arrested till Sunday and some have returned on their own, Jhumka Jail Jailer Ram Niraula said.

Among the prisoners who escaped from Jhumka Jail during the August 24 demonstration, 50 prisoners have been arrested from Dharan so far.

1575 prisoners escaped from Jhumka Jail. Out of which 50 prisoners have been arrested from Dharan alone, said Bhishanbabu Rai, DSP, District Police Office, Dharan. The arrested person is 32-year-old Raju Thapa Magar of Dharan-15. He is a prisoner of drug case. 

It is said that the team deployed from the Provincial Police Office Dharan and the Area Police Office Dharan have arrested the fugitive Magar.

Similarly, 34-year-old Nitesh of Chhatharjorpati rural municipality-4 of Dhankuta has been arrested. He is a prisoner of rape case. According to the police, the team deployed under the command of police constable Ganesh Rai from the temporary police station Vijaypur said that the fugitive Bik was arrested from Dharan-14 Vijaypur.

Another absconding prisoner in the drug case, Deepak Periyar, 24, of Dharan-14 Ganeshchowk, has also been arrested. DSP Rai said that he was also taken into custody from Pariyar's house by a team under the command of police constable Ganesh Rai who was posted from the temporary police station Vijaypur. He said that all the arrested prisoners have been taken to jail.

According to him  There were 1 thousand 754 prisoners in Blob 'A' and Block 'B' of the prison. Jailer Niraula said that most of them are prisoners of drug cases.

Sunsari district administration office issued a statement on Saturday and requested the prisoners who absconded from Jhumka prison to contact the prison by October 20th.
