Three prisoners who escaped from Nakhkhu and Jhumka jails during the Zen-ji movement have been taken into custody by the police from Sankhuwasabha. According to the police, 41-year-old Narayan Rai, a resident of Chainpur Municipality-10, was arrested from his own house on Monday. Rai, who was serving a sentence in Nakhkhu Jail in a theft case, absconded during the agitation.

Similarly, among the two prisoners who escaped from Jhumka prison, Subhash Tamang, 31, resident of Chainpur Municipality-9 and Gombu Sherpa, 57, resident of Chichila Rural Municipality-2, have also been arrested by the police. Both were serving sentences in the forced labor industry case.

Rajan Ghimire, head of district prison Khandbari informed that all the three arrested prisoners are being prepared to be sent back to Jhumka prison by Wednesday. Currently, there are 131 male, 8 female prisoners and 2 dependent children in the district jail Khandbari.

The police say that with the arrest of the absconding prisoner, more vigilance is needed in security. The police have said that security has been tightened in the prison and border area keeping in mind the possibility of absconding after this incident.
