A brother-in-law attacked his sister-in-law with acid in a general domestic dispute in Dhobiari, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-9, Morang.

According to District Police Office Morang, 25-year-old Shravan Sah (Chhotu) attacked his 22-year-old sister-in-law Ragini Devi Sah with acid during a general transaction dispute. He is seriously injured and is being treated at Biratnagar Neuro Hospital. Acid was thrown on his face. Shravan is absconding after the

incident. The family is reluctant to file a complaint against the attacker. DSP Kopila Chundal of the district police office said, 'The family has not yet come to lodge a complaint.' She said that the search for absconders has been intensified.

According to the doctor, Ragini's health condition is improving. According to family sources, Shravan had demanded Rs 3,000 as compensation from his sister-in-law. But Shravan attacked her with acid saying that Ragini gave only 2000.

According to Santosh Shah, Ragini's husband, Shravan had threatened to kill him a few hours before the incident.

In the year 2075, the government of Nepal made arrangements to tighten the open sale and distribution of acid and provide immediate treatment expenses to the victims.

According to advocate Shobha Bajgai, there are laws to strictly control acid attacks, but the situation of easy access and lack of monitoring still persists. She said, 'The community also shows a tendency to blame only the victim, which is wrong.'
