A wild elephant was found dead in a paddy field in Mechinagar. The elephant was found dead in the field of local Kamal Karki located in Mechinagar-1 at around 8 o'clock on Saturday morning.
Shankar Luintel, a conservationist, said that the elephant may have died on Friday night and the incident site was near the Mechi River. According to him, the dhoi (female) elephant was found dead.

``Forest office team has reached the spot. We have also called an expert team from Koshi Tappu Wildlife Sanctuary, National Nature Conservation Fund for further investigation. The cause of death will be known after the investigation, he said.
