Why was the ban imposed in Jhapa until this morning?

What you should know

Even though the situation in the country has become normal, why was the prohibition order issued in Jhapa until this morning? Is the peace and order of Jhapa not under the control of the administration? Common citizens still have this curiosity.

Keeping in mind the peace and security of the district, the prohibitory order issued by the district administration remained in Jhapa till today (Thursday) morning. In order to protect the lives of the common people and the public property, the administration is issuing prohibitory orders at night and daily. On Wednesday night also from 8 o'clock, the administration issued a prohibition order by designating a prohibited area. The order ended at 4 o'clock on Thursday morning.

In this regard, Assistant Chief District Officer Tejprakash Prasai, who is also the Information Officer of the District Administration Office, Jhapa, says that the prohibition order has been issued due to the increasing number of theft incidents in areas such as Virtamod, Damak. According to him, although security patrols have been increased throughout the district, the police have not reached all the police units.

Taking advantage of the fact that the police did not reach everywhere, theft incidents increased in various places. As a result of this, the public complained of increased insecurity . The citizens themselves suggested to issue a prohibition order for 2-4 days at night,' he says, 'The administration has issued a prohibition order considering all these issues.'

He says that the prohibition order will not come from today. Now the situation in the whole district is getting better. District Security Committee meeting has not been held today. Now there will be no prohibition," he said.

Jhapa police chief Rajan Limbu said that joint patrols of security personnel have been increased and the police have reached all locations in the district. We are aware that a possible incident does not happen. The situation in the district is becoming normal, he said.

In Jhapa, 23 outpost-level police offices were damaged during the agitation, while 9 police offices were completely destroyed.

Police Inspector Praveen Shrestha, information officer on behalf of the district police, said that there are no police units with tin flags left. After the Zen-G movement reached its peak, the Jhapa administration had previously issued a curfew order across the district. During the protest, the police had to suffer heavy losses and the Mechi customs office, Bhadrapur customs office located on the border were completely burnt .

As the situation has returned to normal, both these customs offices have started providing services and the administration has said that peace and security has also come under control.
