Border Outpost building of Armed Police Force has been inaugurated at Sripur Naka in Sunsari, which is 61 km border with India.
The building was inaugurated by DIG Kumar Neupane of Armed Police Force Nepal Barah Bahini Headquarters Sunsari in a ceremony organized by No. 4 Gana of Armed Police Force.
Ganapati Armed Police Superintendent Nirmal Kumar Thapa of No. 4 Ganpati informed that the new building will provide more support to the manpower engaged in border security without sufficient resources and equipment for theft-smuggling, customs evasion and border security.
The armed police are guarding the 689.3 km border from 48 border outposts in Koshi province to monitor the international border and protect the border residents. Sunsari, which has a 61 km area bordering India, has two border posts and 9 border outposts. 250 security personnel have been deployed at that location.
Even in the absence of sufficient manpower, SP Thapa informed that they are adopting a policy of zero tolerance for customs evasion, smuggling and criminal activities.
Thapa says that border security has become a challenge as the distance from one outpost to another is 6 and a half kilometers in the border area.
