Journalists have protested against the 'Koshi State Mass Media Bill', which was registered in the state assembly by the Koshi state government, as an attack on journalism and freedom of expression.

 

A sit-in program has been organized in front of the district administration office today under the organization of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Sankhuwasabha. Participating journalists raised slogans like 'press freedom', 'repeal anti-freedom provisions'.

Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Koshi Province Committee has announced that it will hold a phased protest demanding the repeal of the anti-independence provisions of the bill.

After the presentation of the 'Mass Communication Bill' in the Koshi State Assembly, a wide debate has started. Various journalist organizations, including the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, are strongly protesting that the bill contains provisions to restrict journalism.
