200 sacks of chemical fertilizers sent by the government to distribute to the farmers with subsidy have been found in the warehouse of a trader in Katari, Udaipur. The monitoring team of the district administration office seized the manure on Thursday while it was hidden in the warehouse of Ashutosh Traders and General Stores, operated by Dilip Chaudhary, a businessman from Katari.

Assistant Chief District Officer Vikram Prasad Pandey informed that the godown with the found manure was immediately sealed and the investigation process started. He said, 'Where did the feces come from? We have instructed the Chief Administrative Officer of Katari Municipality to investigate who is involved and take necessary action.'

Rajan Thapa, chief administrative officer of Katari Municipality, also said that an inquiry committee will be formed regarding the incident and action will be taken against the culprits according to the law. Locals say that when there is a shortage of chemical fertilizers in the district, it is suspicious that the fertilizers that should be provided to the farmers with subsidies are found in the warehouse of the traders. The farmers have alleged that traders are black-marketing the subsidized fertilizer with the connivance of public representatives and employees.

Dhruv Roka, a farmer of Katari Municipality-4, said, 'The rice in the field has not flourished without fertilizer. The agricultural cooperative had to return empty-handed many times saying that the fertilizer did not arrive. But the traders have set up and brought fertilizer and sold it at a high price.

The government, on the recommendation of the local level, has made arrangements to deliver fertilizer to farmers through cooperative organizations through agricultural material companies and salt trading. But in Katari, subsidy fertilizer was found in a trader's godown and it is seen that it has been misused.

Similarly, the monitoring team of the district administration office has taken action against two shops that were doing business against the law while monitoring 28 shops in Katari market. Kopila Rai, Head of Area Administration Office Katari, informed that around 120,000 worth of inedible and expired rice, spices, beverages, tobacco and other materials were seized and destroyed. Anjali Pouroti Udyog and Ranjana Stores in Katari have been fined Rs 5,000 each for doing business against the law.
