A letter of attention has been submitted to Diktel Rupakot Mazhuwagadhi Municipality demanding the creation and implementation of laws in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal and the Local Government Act, 2074 including ILO Convention 169. The Federation of Nepalese Tribal Tribes Khotang submitted a letter of attention to the city chief Tirtharaj Bhattarai on Sunday.
In the attention letter signed by the president of the federation, Furwa Sherpa, it is demanded to give the right of self-determination while protecting the rights, language, religion, culture and traditions of the tribal community.
Likewise, it is mentioned in the letter of attention that for the protection and promotion of all other rights including the right to self-governance, the right to natural resources, the right to identity, the right to land and the right to free prior informed consent, based on the Constitution of Nepal and the Local Government Act, 2074, initiatives should be taken to create specific laws, guidelines and procedures.
