A prisoner who absconded from Jhumka Jail in Sunsari has been arrested from Birtamod in Jhapa. Rupak Paudel Khatri, a prisoner of the extortion case, escaped from the B block of the prison on the morning of 28th July.
DSP Yograj Khatiwada, spokesperson of District Police Office Sunsari informed that he was arrested from Birtamod Municipality 10 in Jhapa on Saturday morning.
Khatiwada informed that preparations are being made to take him under arrest and bring him to the District Police Office Sunsari for further investigation. In the case of Khatri gang rape of Khotang Diprang Chuichampa Rural Municipality 2, the court ordered to run the prison on July 21, 2082 for trial. While ending the
case, the Sunsari district court decided on 25th March 2081 that Khatri would be sentenced to 13 years imprisonment and a fine of 5 lakhs and a compensation of 30 thousand rupees. To investigate the incident, a 5-member investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of Sunsari Assistant Chief District Officer Lokman Shrestha.
