Farmers of rural municipality-1 Shyamshila in Pauwadung are engaged in commercial kiwi farming. After the rural municipality determined the 'pocket' area and conducted the necessary incentive programs, the farmers started commercial kiwi farming.
Ward President Rajendra Tamang informed that after the rural municipality increased investment in kiwi farming by building pocket areas, more than 30 farmers here are doing kiwi farming professionally.
Ward president Tamang said that farmers of this area are engaged in commercial kiwi farming as they can get income for a long time after expansion.
Farmers here have started selling kiwis to avoid household expenses. As Shyamshila is near Bhojpur-Leguwa road Farmers have been selling their products easily. Since agriculture is the main source of income for farmers, village council has emphasized on fruit and vegetable farming in Pauwadung, said village president Kiran Rai.
Stating that soil suitable cultivation is being done in all the six wards here, he said, "Since there is a lot of potential for kiwi in Shyamshila, we have determined pocket areas. In other places, we have been conducting fruit development programs such as lemons and avocados."
