On the occasion of Janai Purnima fair held at Dudhkunda Pond, Red Cross has provided health check-ups to more than 700 visitors.
Every year Red Cross has been providing treatment assistance to the pilgrims who reach there on the occasion of the Janaipurnima fair every year at a height of 4600 meters above sea level. Visitors who have gone for a visit, especially due to the height, have physical problems such as shivering, vomiting, and breathing problems.
With the help of Nepal Life Insurance and Red Cross Society District Branch Solukhumbu, a team including the Nepalese Army went to various places on July 23 and 24 to serve the travelers, said Suresh Khadka, Treasurer of Nepal Red Cross Society District Branch Solukhumbu.
For various health problems caused by altitude, the organization has provided services by deploying a team of 12 volunteers and doctors in different places .
Kamudanda, Jamlyaha Khola, Gamtang, Sahasrabeni, Dudhkund and other places were examined and treated.
5 patients have been treated during the health examination of around 700. A teenager from Khotang, who visited Dudhkund just a while ago, died due to 'high altitude'.
