The work of connecting the modular bridge to the Hewa river under the Panchthar section of the Mechi highway has been accelerated. Technicians from Road Division Ilam and India are engaged in the work.
Earlier, the modular bridge under construction was broken on 31st of May last year without completion of construction. The transport service has been affected in the area of Hewa river that separates the borders of Fidim municipality and Hilihang rural municipality for the last three years .
This time, the Indian technicians who came from India with launching kits, under the supervision of Road Division Ilam, the bridge connection has been progressed by Pawan Bhattarai, head of Road Division Ilam. 21 Indian technicians have been deployed to install the bridge. Bhattarai said, "After the arrival of the technicians and other materials to connect the insufficient materials of the bridge that was damaged last time, Bhattarai said .
When the bridge collapsed, 20 percent of the material was destroyed . After the bridge material was provided free of cost by the Indian government, it was broken at the final stage of connection.
This modular is provided by the Government of India . whose length is 70 meters . It is estimated that it will take at least 10 days to complete the connection work of the modular bridge which started on July 17. Indian engineers and technicians have come from India for the connection.
For modular bridge connection and structure construction, Dobhan Super Saugat Light Builders has taken a contract for 35 million to build the bridge.
The concrete bridge of the Hewa River connecting the entire Taplejung with the road network from Phidim to Hilihang, Yangwarak and Phalelung of Panchthar through the Mechi highway was washed away by the flood on June 2, 2080 . After that, the federal government took 29 days to build the Belybridge, but after it was swept away by the flood on 12th October 2081, the modular bridge which was being connected for the second time broke during the installation process on 31st May, but it had to be connected here for the third time .
The traffic in the Hewa River area is chaotic after the bridge was washed away by the flood. When there is no rain, even if the vehicle is diverted from the diversion, the passengers have to face hardships when the flood occurs.
