Traffic flow has been stopped since the first week of May after the diversion of the Hewa River, which separates the border between Fidim and Hilihang in Panchthar under the Tamor Corridor, overflowed. This road has been blocked since the last week of June after the diversion of Muwa River, which separates Phalelung-6 and 5, under the Phidim road that connects Falout on the Nepal-India border from Fidim in Panchthar to Nangin, Yangnam, Sidin Prangvung.
As a lifeline connecting Mechi's hill district with Jhapa, daily traffic was damaged due to the flood damage in the diversion built in the Hewa river which separates the border between Fidim and Hilihang of Panchthar under the Mechi highway. Traffic is affected.
Similarly, there is no bridge at Chiwabhanjang, the origin of the central mountain highway, Dovane river connecting Tharpu via Chiangthapu, Sidin and Memeng on the road from Fidim to Falelung rural municipality center to Thakepung. Vehicles and transport vehicles are moving around due to the diversion. In this way, the bridge of the Hewa River near Majhitar under the Hewa River, Lungmadin and Tamor Corridor along with the bifurcation of the Mid-Pahadi Highway was washed away by the flood on 2nd June 2080. Similarly, Hewa river on Mechi highway, Femi and Muwa river bridges on Fidim-Falout road section were swept away by the flood that occurred on October 12.

The Hewa river bridge of Mechi highway was washed away by flood on 2nd June 2080. After Beli Bridge, which was built immediately after, was washed away again on October 12th, after being disconnected from the road network of Panchthar and Taplejung districts, the modular bridge, which was being built for the third time, broke down on May 31st last year. Vehicles and means of transport are being diverted through the diversion. In most of the rivers in the hilly district of Panchthar, water has been pumped through hump pipes and stones have been laid on top of the tracks for vehicles to cross. In Ghumaunatar and Feme rivers, some concrete form has been given by sloping the hump pipe.
People from Hilihang, Yangwarak in Panchthar to Taplejung cross the Hewa river on Mechi Highway and Tamor Corridor. This is also the way to transport food to these areas. Similarly, Feme River has connected Phalelung Rural Municipality along with Phidim Municipality-10, 11, 12, 13 in the road network. On the other side, Dobhane River connects Yangwarak Rural Municipality-1 and 2 with Sidingwa Rural Municipality-1 and 2 of Taplejung. Even though the citizens have been enjoying living in such a geographical area, the government agencies have not paid attention to the construction of concrete bridges.
The head of road division Ilam, Pawan Bhattarai, says that after the modular bridge broke during the construction of the Hewa river on the Mechi highway, the work of transporting goods for reconstruction has reached its final stage. Along with this, a request has been made to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for approval of the budget and tender for the design of a concrete bridge to solve the long-term problem in the Hewa river on the Mechi highway, according to Road Division Ilam. is
The federal government has the jurisdiction to build bridges on the Hewa river and the Dobhane river. Apart from these, it is the responsibility of the Koshi state government to construct bridges in rivers such as Feme, Muwa, Ghumaunatar and Lungmadin. Mitraprasad Kafle, Mayor of Fidim Municipality, says that despite requests from provincial ministers, parliamentarians and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure to install belay bridges in all the places where bridges were washed away before the rains, the process has not progressed. Three years have passed since the flood took away the bridge, it seems that there will be a greater risk if the diversion option is not sought due to lack of rain. All the local people's representatives of the district have been pressing the provincial and federal government agencies to solve the problem, but there has been no hearing," said Mayor Kafle.
In most of the diverted places, there is no two-way traffic, large vehicles and transport vehicles are barely plying. Due to the lack of traffic on the temporarily dug roads along and across the Hewa River, vehicles are unable to pass and are jammed for hours. "There is a risk of accidents if we do not look for diversion options and upgrade the Varipari road," says Vishal Limbu, a truck driver. The drivers say that even though the Genten vehicles are plying through the temporary diversion during the winter, when it rains, the journey becomes uncertain as the flood does not decide when the diversion will be carried away.
The representatives of the local level have repeatedly requested the ministers and secretaries of the federal and state governments to build a bridge in the mountain stream that has been swept away by the flood. Even though the MPs of Koshi State Assembly have repeatedly drawn their attention through the House, the concerned bodies are silent.
Vasantakumar Nemwang, the only federal MP elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Panchthar, has been unable to speak due to illness for eighteen months. Suryakumar Niraula, a local leader, says that even this has not raised the issue of the district's problems in the House and the government.
