Health Minister Pradeep Paudel has understood the health condition of Tirtharaj Bhattarai, head of Majhuwagadhi Municipality, Diktel Roopakot, who is on death row in the hospital.
Bhattarai, who has been on hunger strike since Wednesday with demands including promotion of various local products, met him at Veer Hospital around 12 noon on Thursday and understood about his health condition.
Minister Paudel said that he was positive towards Bhattarai's demand and assured that he would take initiative to fulfill the demand through negotiations, Dinesh Ghimire, spokesperson of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality said. Ghimire informed that even the team of National Human Rights Commission came to know about Bhattarai's health condition at the hospital. "The Health Minister has understood about the health condition of Mayor Sap, he has said that he will be positive towards the mayor's demand and take initiatives to fulfill the demand through negotiations," said Ghimire, "The team of the National Human Rights Commission has also understood about the health condition of the mayor." Ghimire said that Bhattarai is being treated in the emergency room.
Bamboo should be included in the building code and a policy should be made to use local materials by making standards for government assessment; the government should create and implement a policy for this as young people who migrate abroad can be self-employed by operating small domestic industries at the local level through the use of bamboo; bamboo should be protected and promoted as it controls soil erosion, environmental protection, climate pollution control, environmental protection and excessive carbon storage, and so on. He reached the point of hunger strike.
After the decision of the 13th Municipal Assembly on June 9 to hold a satyagraha, Bhattarai went to Kathmandu on July 4 carrying bamboo sticks, gundri, radii, straw etc.
