Disaster warning siren added to Falelung

A siren has been installed in Falelung Rural Municipality-5 Prangbung to warn of natural disasters and calamities. Siren has been installed in collaboration with Nepal Red Cross Society.

Gururaj Timsina, officer of Nepal Red Cross Society District Branch, Panchthar, informed that sirens will give early warning about floods, landslides and heavy rains and will help the citizens of the concerned areas to stay safe.

It is believed that getting advance information about a possible disaster will help in reducing the loss of people's wealth. The Finnish Red Cross has provided financial support of 7 lakh rupees to install sirens.

Nepal Red Cross Society District Branch Panchthar through the Nepal Red Cross Society under the Ready Project being conducted in Phalelung, this siren has been connected. Phalelung-5 ward office made a formal request to the Red Cross for siren connection. Phalelung-5 Ward Chairman Bharat Kumar Khapangi Magar, who is also the spokesperson of the village, said that after the recommendation of the village executive meeting was approved, the connection process went ahead.

No. 5 ward office building will be located in Thakepung, Siren's remote control village center connected to Prangbung. According to the Red Cross, the siren can be heard up to 5 kilometers away from the place where it is installed. A back-up that can be charged from both Siren solar system and electricity system is kept.
