District Traffic Police Office Khotang has collected more than 49 lakh revenue in one year for traffic enforcement. In the financial year 2081/82, a revenue of 49 lakh 31 thousand five hundred rupees was collected from traffic operations.
Chief Police Assistant Inspector Pitam Rai of District Traffic Police Office Khotang has said that the revenue was collected from 5,747 vehicles violating traffic rules from July 1, 2081 to the end of June 2082.
According to him, 3,677,000 revenue was collected from 3,115 cars, jeeps and vans, 11,56,500 from 1,346 motorcycles, 520,000 from 577 trucks, and 121,500 from 136 buses.
Similarly, Rai said that 86 thousand 500 revenue was collected from 98 trippers, 282 thousand 282 thousand from 357 tractors, 115 thousand 100 thousand from 117 tempo operations.
Rai said that the revenue was collected when taking action against vehicles that were driving without a license, without documents, driving under the influence of alcohol, not having a valid license, carrying more passengers than the seat capacity, not wearing seat belts, motorcyclists not wearing helmets, and vehicles without number plates.
``Revenue 49 lakh 31 thousand five hundred rupees has been collected from those who violate traffic rules,'' said Rai. According to the police, 136 people were injured in 133 vehicle accidents in the district.
