Locals protested after the Fungling Municipality removed the cages of pigs kept in a disorderly manner inside the headquarters. They have demanded the municipality to withdraw this decision.
On June 27, the municipality had given seven days' time to publish and broadcast a notice saying that the cages of pigs kept in a disorderly manner spread bad smell and could spread disease. Although an appeal was made to arrange it by July 4th, no one has removed or arranged it yet.
After the implementation of the municipality, pig farmers came out in protest. One of their basic demands is to remain the same. The municipality has asked Tokmedanda coffee house area, Palsing Danda through Tokmedanda, Buddhchowk, Thombe, nearby areas, Serpatol, Dahalgaon, Bajogara Pravi area and Birendrachowk, Hulaktol, Navjyoti Boarding School via new bus park and the area around the helipad to remove cages.
In the same way, it has been asked to remove the cages in the areas around Balmandir School, Old Ghos Line, Kanchenjunga Boarding School, Rizal Line and around Bhanu School, Seti Dhara, Boje. If this notification is implemented, pigs and goats will not be allowed to be reared anywhere within the municipality's headquarters, Fungling.
It covers all areas of the market. Despite the deadline given by the municipality, no one has removed it yet.
