With the repair of the Hewa river diversion under the Panchthar section of the Mechi highway, which has been blocked for 5 days, the means of transport and transportation have started to cross. The flood that occurred in the Hewa River on Saturday night damaged the diversion made there.
The road division, Ilam, repaired the diversion and opened the road as the amount of water in the river decreased. Pawan Bhattarai, Head of Road Division Ilam, informed that after continuous efforts, two-wheeled, three-wheeled and all kinds of light vehicles along with transport vehicles have been allowed to cross from Hewakhola diversion from 6:30 pm on Thursday. According to him, if there is another big flood and there is no further damage to the diversion, the means of transport and transportation will continue to run.
Hewakhola's estuary area Falelung and Famekhola's estuary in high mountain areas including Fidim Municipality 12 and 13, the possibility of flooding remains the same as rain continues. The concrete bridge of Hewakhola was first washed away by flood on 2nd June 2080.
After that, the Belybridge built on October 12, 2081 was swept away again by floods, and the modular bridge under construction broke down for the third time on May 31, 2082, and traffic and transportation vehicles are being diverted in the Hewa River due to the diversion.
