District Court Taplejung cases more than 18 months are now void

The saying that "delayed justice is like no justice" is prevalent in the justice field. But in the case of the district court, the decision process has been accelerated in recent years. In District Court Taplejung, one judge has decided 413 cases in one financial year.
Taplejung District Judge Bikas Shrestha, who was transferred after a month of the beginning of the financial year, decided 413 cases in 230 working days.
Judge Shrestha was transferred on August 5th. For a month, he was busy in the by-election of ward president in Sirijanga rural municipality-3 Sikaicha. Due to being far away from the headquarters, the work of the court could not be done as the election officer's office had to stay there from the time the election was established until the election was over.
According to Srestedar Manoj Baral, there is not a single case in the district court for more than 18 months. All has been null . Baral said that Judge Shrestha, after the decision of the District Court, reached the High Court for more than 18 months, requested the higher body to finish the case, which was more than one and a half years old.
According to the information officer of the court, Bishnu Kumar Rai, there were 17 cases of two years and 18 months of 47 cases at the end of June 2082. All of them have been decided. Out of the 127 who came in charge from the previous financial year, 120 have been dismissed.
In the financial year 2081/82, there were 452 newly registered cases . Rai informed that out of 579 cases including old ones and newly registered cases, 159 cases remain for the current financial year.
In Taplejung, which has a single bench, 313 cases were decided in 2077/78, 412 cases in 078/79, 329 cases in 079/80, 368 cases in 080/81 and 420 cases in 081/82. It is customary for a judge to stay in a district for two years .
