Due to the incessant rain since Saturday evening, the main road connecting Panchthar with various places has been blocked. The Mechi highway has been blocked since midnight after the flood in Henwa River crossed the level of the diversion.
According to Police Inspector Rupesh Tamang of District Police Office Panchthar, traffic has come to a standstill due to the murky water flowing over the level of the diversion constructed here. After the bridge of this river was washed away by repeated floods, traffic has been being diverted here for three years.
Panchthar and Dhankuta bordering Nawa River in Tamor Corridor has been blocked due to flooding and the road connecting Bhedetar in Dhanuta via Ranke-Ravi 6 No.
Since then, under the Panchthar section of the Madhyapahari highway, the road has been blocked due to a landslide in Rizal Bhir, while the flood has also damaged the diversion of the Dovane river. On the other hand, the diversions of Feme river and Muwa river in the Fidim Yangnam Falout section connecting the border Falout with India from Fidim in Panchthar have also been flooded. Because of this, vehicles are not able to cross these two rivers.
The rain that has continued since the evening has not stopped even in the morning. District Administration Office Panchthar has appealed to the general public to be alert as the risk of landslides remains due to heavy rains in some places.
