CPN-Maoist has warned of agitation after the budget went to zero in Itahari sub-metropolitan city. Itahari sub-metropolitan brought the budget for the financial year 2082-83 but could not pass it, resulting in a budget vacuum.

The Maoists have warned of a phased movement saying that the representatives elected from the UML and the Congress are trying to escape from the problem by blaming each other.

Maoist Itahari issued a statement on Saturday and said that the sub-metropolitan office is unable to pay for the projects completed in 2080/081 even by the end of 2081/082.

The Maoists have also opposed the baseless accusations and slurs made by Deputy Metropolitan Chief Hemkarn Paudel against media persons. The statement said, 'We would like to inform you that our party is committed to the freedom of press and expression and the safety of journalists as guaranteed by the constitution itself.'

After the situation in Itahari sub-metropolitan came to various media, Mayor Paudel accused 'Journalists are publishing and publishing news after no rain has fallen'.

The Maoists have also objected to the increasing violence in the sub-metropolitan area. According to the data released by the Auditor General's Office, itahari has the highest number of sub-metropolitan cities in the country.
