The North-South Lokmarg, which was blocked by the flood in the Thakpu River after the rains of June 25, has been operational since Tuesday.

According to Rajan Limbu Mutti, chairman of the rural municipality, the road has been put into operation after the repair work that started on the 27th was completed on Tuesday.

Limbu said two excavator machines had to be used in the reconstruction of the road leading to Lelep Thakpukhola Lavazen and the North-South Highway, which were devastated by the flood. The machine was provided by Super Tamor Hydro Power Company. Chairman Limbu informed that the necessary fuel for road maintenance was given by the rural municipality.

This road going from the headquarters to Tiptala Bhanjyang via Olangchungola will now go to Sukepani via Iladanda. In Sukepani, the driver said that the vehicle could not cross due to the increased flow of water in Tamor river.

This year's rains have washed away two RCC bridges for pedestrians at Thakpukhola in Lelep and the suspension bridge at Simbuwakhola going to Kanchenjunga Basecamp via Yamfudin.
