After the girl was accused of gang rape, the police arrested five young men and brought them to court.
According to District Police Office Panchthar, they were arrested after the victim complained that the youths who were staying in a group in a hotel operating on the main road of the headquarters Fidim had molested them. Among those arrested, 3 are from Panchthar and 2 from Jhapa.
According to Rupesh Tamang, spokesperson of District Police Office Panchthar, those arrested are 26-year-old Vivash Khadka and 25-year-old Ankit Sharma from Jhapa and 28-year-old Anil Yonghang, 30-year-old Sanjay Tamang and 32-year-old Umesh Tamang from Panchthar. They were arrested by the police at 4 am on Sunday. According to the information received, the arrested youth and the girl who was in Karani were staying together in a hotel by renting a room from Saturday evening.
They went out to visit the market for a while in the evening and again entered the hotel at 10:30 PM and stayed together. In the morning, the girl had filed a complaint saying that she had been gang-raped. When the 21-year-old girl complained that she was gang-raped, the police team that was deployed arrested them from the same room.
According to the police, after filing a complaint for the crime of coercion against the arrested, the Panchthar district court on Sunday extended the investigation by 10 days. According to the police, the victim's health was examined and treatment was started.
