The gold and silver shops of Sankhuwasabha have been closed indefinitely for two days. The gold and silver business association has closed more than 3 dozen gold and silver shops in Sankhuwasabha district from Friday.

President Janak Paudeli said that the shop was closed in protest against the government's unnecessary tax on gold and silver.

In the new budget, the government has imposed 2 percent luxury tax on gold and 13 percent tax on diamond stones and they demand that it should be canceled immediately.

Similarly, businessmen demand that gold customs should be maintained at 6 percent and that the government should formulate clear policies and regulations for gold and silver transactions.

Due to the government's impractical policy on gold and silver, businessmen across the country are protesting.
